Its a 325is with 170K miles, (no picture tho just like this) but in decent shape . First time driving anything with an I6. And the best part was, my buddy told me to just floor it and see what it felt like. So i did just that. It felt really good between 4-6k rpm. Traction control works great, haha. The catch is, its an auto.... But under WOT it hits just about redline every shift!

Also i couldnt answer this for him: anyone know what the A/M switch does next to the gear select?

And anything particular he should know about that car?

The A/M switch probably does nothing, unless there's also a W mode (winter, where it starts the car in third gear which helps in da sno)

that's not a 325is in the picture, nor could it be just like that unless it's a M3 replica with Style 24 wheels

I know, its not exactly the same one, but he has those wheels. And it took me forever to find a decent pic with those wheels on the coupe.

The AM button will hold the gear when in M. A is adaptive or automatic. Said the forums at least. Read the owner's manual.

He should know that the knurled knob right below the center air vent controls the driver's side air temperature. The two temperature knobs control the driver/passenger air temps, but the knurled knob can independently adjust the temperature of the air coming out of the driver's vents, which is useful of you want to heat up your feet and cool your face at the same time.

It took me like 6 months to figure it out.

Now I'm not sure if its the same transmission in the E36 325i, but let me tell you, no car has ever made me wish for an H pattern so badly. Its jerky, slow to react, and has veryyyyyyy long gears due to it only having 4 speeds. Its like an internal committee has to be held every time the car wants to shift a gear

My wife had a 325is when we were dating in high school. It was a 94 (this was in 06/07) and it was a beast. Had 200,000+ KMs and and still drove like a raped ape. We drove from her house to my house (about 100 miles) without dropping below 230/240 km/h or so the entire time. Made badass time and passed everything but a gas station. Growing up in Germany is very Jalop-friendly. And the sound that straight 6 made - well, we are both still addicted to the Blue and White Bavarians.
